We left Sydney on schedule while we were eating at the seated dinner….got to the top deck just as we passed under the Sydney Bridge…very interesting and beautiful as we passed by the bridge and then approached at passed the Opera House….some great photos. We proceeded out of Sydney Bay heading toward Manley Island…..and then out into the Pacific..making a right turn and heading south towards Melbourne…The night was smooth…our first night on the Ship…and awoke to a beautiful morning…and a day at Sea. A lot of things to do….including the pool game tourney where William was the runner-up to the 80 year old Champ….and it was a 2 point game at the end. Fun for all…as was the rest of the dinner with the Gala Semi formal dinner. We then went to the Captain’s toast and stayed for the show…an exciting musical by the Noordam Singers and Dancers….
In summarizing Sydney for purposes of Destination …..Sydney Harbor, Darling Harbor, Circular Quay, Opera House, St. Mary’s Cathedral, the Botanical Garden, the huge downtown CBD modern buildings….The Rocks shopping and dining area, the Old Bridge….Easy to walk from the CSL Boarding area at the Quay….but too far from White Bay…so taxi to the Circular Quay area…may be $60 for a taxi…maybe more.
Extras include the Zoo and the beautiful Hyde Park…..and then the historical buildings in the midst of the modern and some brand new construction , and there is a lot of it in the CBD areas. With over 4 million people in Sydney…this is a major World City….so a lot of traffic and tourism…..but the CBD is very clean….and in The Rocks area…some very quaint and unique stores….quite expensive….
If you are staying in Sydney before or after….many major hotels within walking distance of the Circular Quay area. Convenient, but expensive.
A great city.
